my understanding is that the technology exsists, but the 'imagined' applications are just that. No doubt they are fully concieved, but without the platforms, aren't a reality.
I've had the pleasure of sitting in on a technical presentation last year where several retail systems where demo'd, in thier conceptual form. Pleased to see the rather immature systems of today are poised to be replaced. One must consider the motivations to implement such devices. Certainly the prime objective of consumer channels piped directly to the activity that stimulates the 'need' is desirable, but the bulk of North Americans needs can be found, cost effectively, at the till.
