Default Battery powered propulsion

I am brainstorming to come up with a lightweight, easy to use motor for the Mrs kayak. And something safe for young kids to be doubling on and playing near.

I had a hair brained idea to use a Dewalt cordless pressure washer set up in a rod holder, since i already have the batteries and it comes with a suction hose for using creative water sources.

Think it'll work? Anyone else tried it?

yeah, a mini jet just to operate one handed to fight the wind when she isnt drifting right or needs a beverage. And clean the road grime off, blast the fish slime away... would not be relied on for travel, just an assist.

would need to figure out water intake screens that don't add to much drag...

or else i would love to hear of people's ideas for small motors and foot pedal setups. I don't want to load her up with a lead acid battery and a minn kota, i don't think. Looking for something smaller

I have one of those dewalt battery powered pressure washers and while it's a handy little thing it definitely will not work like you want. I would be way more inclined to try and figure out some shaft system with a plastic prop driven by a drill.

Drill is always going to want to overheat. That’s why e trollers submerge the motor ,it keeps things cool. Found this option on Amazon. It or something similar may work for you

this guy uses a 78 GPM bilge pump which gets him about 2mph in calm water. So i guess that the DeWalt pressure washer would achieve 2/78ths mph, lol.

I got my heart set on Bilge pump and now need a kayak friendly power inverter for DeWalt batteries... ?

The wife and I have these for our float tubes just in case we are tired after a long day of kicking around in the water. They work like a charm. I've seen some videos of people propelling aluminum boats with them too. Ordered them off of Ebay a couple of years ago. Only thing is they do have a propeller, and they take a little bit of practice to use. Nice and lightweight though too.

A drill cost just as much as a cheap electric boat motor on Amazon - you can get one for around $200 ..... why rig up some contraption that may not work when you can simply buy a cheap electric?

Even if you look at some of the MinnKota they are a little over $300 and are high quality

its more about weight and compact-ness. The mrs will not be packing a car battery to power a minn kota, nor installing foot pedals to steer one. And with young kids who will be playing with and around kayak, i dont want a powerful propellor
