Default Ordering from arizona Knives question

I ordered a knife from Arizona knives, they have emailed me asking for a picture of my photo id. Is this a normal procedure for them? They say it is because of credit card fraud.

It is, yes. For the first order they require it. Like AG Russel, for international orders, they used to have a $500 minimum order AND the funds had to be wired. But they found that cumbersome.

There is so much International card fraud many U.S. companies won't ship outside the States at all. Arizona Knifes actually has some of the easier policies to live with. Picture I.D. seems reasonable. Other thing, it cost me 25 bucks to ship a knife inside Canada. Fifty bucks coming from the States doesn't seem too bad.

$50 international shipping is a drop in the bucket anymore.

It is the Dozier Yukon Pro Skinner. I too had been following the knife thread and decided to try an upper end knife.

I was looking at that one yesterday. I really love the burlap micarta scales. Super duper nice knife, JBE. Congratulations.

I just ordered a knife from them. I don’t recall giving them photo I’d, but not unreasonable request. They are a professional company, I wouldn’t object.

If you have ordered from them before you don’t need to.

JBE

You will have to post your thoughts once you get it and have a chance to try it out. I am looking forward to getting the Crotts Semi Skinner I ordered but it will be a few months yet. May have to go find a spring bear just to try out the new knife.

Don't be surprised if it gets held up in Custom's. They are working to rule for the last 18 months because a 75K starting salary for a trainee and 150K max with full benefits and a Defined Benefit Government pension just isn't good enough for pushing paper around.

Don't be surprised if it gets stolen from Customs, I've had two knives seized. The agent determined the knob on the blade for one handed opening constitutes assisted opening..... Kershaw stated the knives weren't built with their assisted opening mechanism, not according to the agent, I hate jack boots.

I had it sent the cheapest option, USPS. Hopefully it doesn't get held up too long. Other shipping options were available like UPS, I have never liked them with their crazy brokerage charges

I had one come through customs recently. They opened it, but it went through quickly.

If anyone decides to sell a Crotts, or Dozier knife, let me know please.

If you find someone to sell you a used one, they’ll want new price for it anyway. At least I would. About a month ago I sold a LT. Wright GNS in 3V for $80 US more than I paid for it. It was still close to new but difficult to find. Guy was looking for one and offered that for mine.

Exactly. If I had some more spare change, I'd order a few just to sell, but for a profit as you did.

I just bought one of the Crotts Bayou hunters on there. I couldn’t help myself. Lol.

One of the frog bayou hunters? It seems like a nice design

Did you get the one with the slightly longer blade and the nicely figured Kingwood scales (the one for $275)?

I came so close to getting that one, as it is a beauty and is similar in blade design to the semi skinner.

Congratulations on a beautiful knife!

Dan's wife told me that they have been getting a ton of calls from Alberta. They even took a read through our thread.

I bought the shorter blade one with the mosaic pin. I wanted a little shorter blade.
