Default Cougar near Big Lake

There have been sightings of cougars near Lewis Estates and Trumpter recently. There are multiple reports of sightings which is a bit concerning since my cousin has lived on the shores of Big Lake for 20 years and does not remember ever seeing signs of cougars. Black bears and wolves yes, but never cougar. I wonder if they are moving up through the water and green belt system from the North Sask river.

This is Big Lake in St Albert? There have been cougar sightings all around Edmonton for decades. Probably a juvenile looking for his own territory. They are sighted and then they disappear.

Excellent. I hope he takes out some of the coyotes that wake me up at night with their yapping.

There's cougar everywhere anyways. Camrose gas stations at night. Saskatchewan. Etc etc. I'd be more surprised with the wolves you mentioned.

A cougar was run over in Villneuve about 10 years ago. No surprise they are around.

There’s been a few sightings of cougars and a bunch of prints found in hawks ridge, trumpeter and some on the out skirts of St. Albert, the most recent being a couple of weeks ago.

There have been at least five resident cougars in the Edmonton river valley for the past three decades. Sighting along the Sturgeon River have been recorded for almost as long. As urban residents push out into formerly wilder territory, these kind of interactions are inevitable. I remember hunting Big Lake with my father for migratory and upland in the 50s with no golf courses, acreages, or residential developments.

At Parkland Bowbenders a couple weekends ago (just South of the airport in Villeneuve) a large cat attacked an antelope 3D target between setup and the first round of shooting.

People would be shocked how many lions slip through the Edmonton river valley and head east.
