Hard water with current underneath is not something that I'd ever want to risk.

But hey there's always room for one more on Darwin's list.

Don't go out onto Bearspaw. It is an old shallow reservoir and you're looking for trouble. If you need to ice fish in those parts, drive just west of Cochrane to Ghost reservoir and fish there. Thick ice and deep. The fishing isn't great, but without fail, every winter someone pulls up a 20 pound laker. Good luck.

we fished it , probally wouldn't bother with it now though. It was in the 80s and much colder winters as the ice was thick except an open pocket by the dam.We only managed a little rocky anyways .There was some old guys that were sitting on buckets and I know they were catching lots of fish. There is lakers in there ,or used to be ,and rainbows ,browns, rocky mountain whitefish, and burbot . it was a long walk to the ice , even then when you could park closer. Probally best to wait for open water but I thought I'd pass the info on , tight lines
