Have been watching & reading a lot of WW2 stuff the last couple of weeks.
Struck me as this week has a lot of historic things that occurred in the war.
Midway was fought this week.
Rome was liberated.
D-day was launched.
being doing the same along with researching family members that were there and what they did. Hard to imagine what they went through, did, and saw.
Grandpa was 6th regiment anti tank and came home but never talked about it and we were always told by dad not to ask about it, and a great uncle landed on juno and was killed july 9th just outside caen, like I said I cant imagine.
Did you guys catch the news of the massive German bunker they found on Juno beach they are excavating it. Its right out the front door of the museum, is was buried deep in sand, but old maps and photos were clues they needed to find it.
