Default 17 Hmr

After resisting the urge for a number of years, I purchased my first 17.
I didn't realize the variety of ammo available, and was wondering what the other 17 shooters were using and why?

Mine prefers 17 gr V-Max.

Tried different weights and brands and in the end she liked the v-max. On a calm day (less than 10 km winds) she is easily .5 MOA at 100 yards

17 gr V-Max seems to get the job done.

I have one 17hmr that likes 17 grain ammo. And one 17hmr that likes 20grain ammo. The reason I shoot it in them is because they are accurate in those guns, and I cant reload for the 17hmr, and the gophers will not know the difference between a difference of 3 grains, as a good hit its a good hit, lol POOF

the gun that likes 20 grain ammo will pattern 3 rounds inside 5 inches at 100 yards., and that is not acceptable for me. heh The 20 grainers shoot nice and tight.

One thing to remember is 17 hmr doesnt like windy days from my experience. And if your groups open up dont worry Seen a guy at the range who keep adjusting his scope on a windy day.
