For all you bow hunters.
I am very curious as to the number of bow kills we have taken over the years.
Question 1, How many years have you bowhunted?
Question 2, How many different animals have you taken with your bow?
Question 3, How many Whitetails do you have over 160 Gross with your bow?
Question 4, How many Mule Deer do you have over 180 Gross with your bow?
Question 5, How many Elk do you have over 300 gross with your bow?
Question 6, How many of you are purley throphy hunters with your bow?
These are just confirmed kills, Lets be honest as well

- I have taken 2 bull moose, 2 bull elk, 1 mule buck, 8 whitetail bucks, half dozzen white tail does.
- I have one white tail over 160", It grossed 164"
- I have no mule deer over 180, The only one i have shot is a 140 class.
- I have no elk over 300 Gross.
- I am more of a meat hunter on everything but whitetails now. I pass alot of bucks now to try get them 150" or better, My goal as a whitetail hunter is a 150 or better with the bow is a good bow kill for me.

I am happy with my bow career so far about would like to keep the animals in the pope and young class.
hoping to bugle a bull elk in this year along with a bull moose.
good luck to all!!

10 years bow hunting
I have only taken
1 bear
1 Moose
Passed on many animals due to shot quailty or distance or size
but I gained 20 extra months of hunting in the feild due to bow hunt...and that to me is the biggest trophy!!!!

I'm Coming up on 8 years of bowhunting, I've killed a smaller black bear, 2 whitey does, and 2 small whitey bucks. Had lots of opportunities for more does, but they often have fawns. Not a big fan of killing a fawns mother. My first year hunting, I made a poor shot on a young bull moose, and I lost him! That shot still haunts me!

Been bow hunting 13 years. Shot nine mulie bucks, one white tail buck, 13 does ( mulie and whitetail) one bull moose, one black bear. I mostly hunt for meat, but depending on the year I try to hold out for a half decent mulie. Biggest is 149 6/8 followed by a 3x3 that grosses 143. No elk, and the whitetail was just over 100 inches. But who cares, it's with a bow, they are all trophys as far as I'm concerned!

1. approx 14 years total
2. 3 moose, 1 elk, 1 whitetail, 2 mulies, 0 bear
3. none
4. none
5. none
6. I bowhunt to get out and enjoy the early season. I have passed up on many animals I could have shot as well. I hunt 95% of the time on the ground and 5% in a stand. If I get a moose draw I try hard during the rut with a bow......if I don't get one during archery season then I switch to rifle to fill my draw.

Oops I forgot think I got 7 Mule bucks all over 200
Pfffffff ya right keep dreaming those buggers are so hard to spot and stalk within 60yds
They look dumb to rifle hunters but lets see them kill them inside that 80 yard comfort zone that mule deer have. Ain't gonna happen not consistently anyway

damn when did I get in this bracket!
I have bowhunted 28 years
I've taken
6 moose
about 15white does mostly dry
can't remember shooting a whitetail buck
2 mule buck, biggest 167 gross
0 elk
3 bear while hunting probably 5 more nusiance bears
10 antelope bucks
1 cougar
2 caribou
4 merium turkey
5 african plains game
I try for elk every year but am jinxed, I like to shoot a dry doe, and the first bull moose I can. Trophy hunt for bucks which ends up usually empty tags till rifle season.

I have bowhunted for 18 years
I have been lucky enough to haevest 1 black bear,7 moose 5 bulls and 2 cows,2 mule does, countless whitetail does,9 whitetail bucks two of which gross over 160 (209 7/8 163 1/8) no elk or muley bucks havnt really had the opportunity to pursue either but they sound difficult. Then there is coyotes beavers ducks ruffed grouse pheasent gophers magpie snipe crow starling. I also injured a 180 class whitetail and never found him, but I have trail cam pics of him the following year. When it comes to moose I am strictly a meat hunter. Whitetails I like to shoot anything that has some age and good mass which usually will be in the 150 range.Happy hunting

20 years, killed a handful of mule bucks, a bull moose, a couple of antelope. I just like getting out. It's a rare event if something dies.

Bowhunting now for over 20 years. For big game animals I have taken Antelope, Whitetails, Mulies, Elk, Moose, Black Bear, Caribou (NWT) with my bow. I think I have taken over 80 big game animals with my bow.
My favorites to hunt are Whitetails and Elk - but I haven't taken a real big one of either (haven't spent enough time hunting where big ones are).
I do trophy hunt - pass up many smaller bucks and does that I don't want to take - but I also shoot animals for meat and consider every one a trophy. To get close, get the right angle and make a good shot is a great experience regardless of the size of the animal.
I think you're asking why we bowhunt and, for me, there are a lot of factors. Being able to spend more time in the field hunting is one, needing to learn more about each animal to get close is always intriguing. And being close, that is always exciting. I also really enjoy shooting a bow. Put it all together and it is the most exciting and challenging thing I can think of.

I bow hunted from 12-18 in that time I killed 3 cow moose and 2 bulls 3 muley bucks 2 mule does. 10years later I'm getting back into it Now that I have the carbon matrix I'm pumped to get back into bow hunting but I'm not a trophy hunter when I have a stick and string in my hand.

Doing quite a job of collecting info here Bit Runner , maybe SRD should hire you to do the game surveys , betting you'd be more accurate .. In response to your questions , I've bowhunted 26 years , taken enough game to earn my ABA and SABA buckles and enjoyed every minute of it even the frustrating ones . No REALY BIG animals but a number of P&Y critters , and a fair number of does for meat loving friends and family .

LOL.. Not likely, I live to bowhunt, My passion is bowhunting, I love to elk hunt and outsmart them on the same ground as me. I just got into elk hunting the last 5 years and i am hooked!! To me there is nothing more rewarding to outsmart the animal you are hunting and harvest him with archery equipment.
