Penned hunting isn't allowed in Alberta, all free range in Alberta.

Thanks for the info...I know Saskatchwan does allow it...still interested in finding out if these bulls were free range.

Does Alberta have prairie elk zones that produce bulls like this?

If a elk is not harvested "free range" in Alberta it is not really considered a elk here.

Otherwise it is called a "cow".

Default Northern B.C. Elk

Here are three elk from Northern B.C. The last elk me and a friend took spot and stalk. We almost shot the right antler off when he was struggling on the ground after knocking him down. The other two I took solo calling both bulls in. I can't believe the size of some of these Alberta bulls that others have posted. Some really, really nice elk on here. Awesome everyone.

Here's a bull I got a few years back. After I shot him, he fell off the bank and died in the water. It was a real pain getting him out.

There's a lot of nice elk on this thread and sorry 'm not adding to it. Elk have been re-introduce to Ontario. My great grandfather hunted them in the late 1800's and early 1900's before they were wiped out. I'm looking forward to the time when they repopulate more of the areas where they once roamed in good numbers so that they can be hunted here. Until then, I'll be watching threads like this one, and wait for my chance.
