Default Border question?

I am heading down south for 3 days, and I have a line on a good deal for a bow. My question is would there be any problems bringing it back accross the border? I will be driving and my thought is that its not a gun but the local border/customs agent put me on hold for a 1/2 hr then cut me off! So needless to say I didn't get an answer.

No problems, whatsoever! I cross the border , both directions, many times per year with my bow. Just declare it, pay the tax and keep your customs receipt if you plan on travelling back and forth across the line.

No issues at all with bringing a bow across.

My guess with your phone call is that you called a 1-800 number and talked with BIS (Border Information Services). In this case, you did not speak to an officer at all. With over 100 peices of legislation that involve the border and the movement of goods, not everything is a simple quick answer for them is my thoughts.
