Yup, Mcjesus can stick fight but fell short when it counted. Hate that stick crap from both sides, drop the gloves and pound each other until it hurts.

According to Frank Seravalli on Twitter, Pickard is getting the start tonight.

The stick work has been deployed by both sides , Mcdavid’s slap to the side of Soucy’s padded pants after being cross checked seems pretty minor compared to the double team cross check he received in return from behind and one to the face.

Soucy got what he deserved and Zadorof got away lucky since he caused the face cross check with his sucker punch style cross check from behind. The whole thing could have been avoided had Zadorov stayed out of it.

At the end of the day the officiating has been abysmal in this series from both perspectives.

I'm not sure if that should please fans or terrify them.

On the one hand, Skinner has a 0.877 SA% in 8 starts this year. On the other hand, Pickard has zero playoff starts, has spent time in the AHL every season for the last seven years, and has 30 NHL games in the last seven years. He did have a better SA% and GAA average this year vs Skinner though, presumably against weaker teams though.

I don't think he'll light the world on fire, but suspect he will stop the unobstructed wrist shots from the blue line.

Sometimes a backup goalie really gets the team thinking and playing a D first game, knowing they have to perform to not let their backup get lit. Between Pickard and Silovs there’s not much experience on either side, albeit Silovs looks great aside from G1.

Pickard has played very well in every game that he has played this year. He deserves to get a crack at some intense playoff hockey. It will either make or break him!

Didn’t think any fans had Calvin Pickard as the starting goalie in the playoffs when the season started. All the Oilers need is for him to have a 0.900 save % and that should hopefully be good enough. Tonight’s game isn’t do or die. Maybe the thinking is if Pickard gets lit up they can go back to Skinner for a must win game 5. Give him a night off tonight and hopefully some rest and watching the game from the bench gives him a reset.

Either way, whoever moves on is going to get pumped in the 3rd round anyways.

At those prices, they could start a GoFundMe for cross checking McDavid, and it would pay bonuses. It would raise piles of money.

Wouldn't say that but pretty close. Win and series tied, lose, down 3-1 facing elimination. The latter a much more difficult hurdle to get over.

If they called everything like the regular season Edmonton would dominate. They are like 50%. So to give Vancouver a chance they call next to nothing. Next the stick work starts.

The other series I watched do not have all the stick work and penalties are being called.

Right, as that's what happened during the regular season.

The stick work has started, and it isn't one sided either.

Exactly and dirty shots etc

The refs will rein it in and they let things slide again.

Gotta play the refs big time to see what you can get away with but remember after the fact
You can be subjected to fines and suspensions.

And even that is questionable on any given day too

Fourth liners starting tonight

Gonna be a gooder!

I agree, so call a bunch of penalties and see what happens. Edmonton would run the Canucks right out of the building.

The other series I have been watching are called fairly and there is very little dirty stick work.

After a horrendous start, they had a really good season. That in spite of mediocre goal tending and 2 of their top 4 d-men should be in the minors somewhere.

Before the playoffs started I had the Oil going to the final. Now I don't think it will happen.
The 2 games they've won were squeaker wins. I guess we'll see how it goes but I can't see this team advancing. Too bad because they had a good season.

I agree. If they were lucky to advance and play either Colorado or Dallas they would be in trouble. Not much of a stats guy but "they" whoever they are say Vancouver has the lowest shots on goal percentage of any team in the playoffs since the lockout. I am sure Dallas or Colorado would be different. But hey you never know. That's why they play the games, if not you might as well just give the Stanley Cup to the President's Trophy winner and be done with it.

So Tocchet says to the media that the Canucks need 5 or 6 players to step up and not be passengers. A day after the loss Elia Petterson from the Canucks does an interview. This young man is supposed to one of the stars for the Canucks. This does not look good for him or the Canucks.

Not even supporting his team gear. Typical european player, he's lost confidence, needs more help, yada yada. The pressure is back on the wenucks.

I liked the D pairings for the Oil last game. They need a good road performance tonight, will be another close game.

Go Canucks Go

Nucks are sitting their soft players and putting in some grit.
Should be an exciting game tonight.
