What part of the river is that? Is it towards Lasalle?
Is there a perch run on? I seem to remember it this time of year.

That is busy for sure. Not real bad considering they are jigging. If they were trolling it would be a s=+*^ t show.

Reminds me of May long weekends at Graham Lake many years back. Maybe not as many boats but if others saw you catching, expect quite a few to be right beside you. Close enough to spit at lol.

That's up be peche island(lake st. Clair), there was about 300 boats doing this drift Sunday morning. There was probably 50 boats handlining in here at the time(trolling with steel wire, 2lb weights and a couple rapalas) I'm guessing 3000 walleyes were caught in this drift alone. I've seen spots a lot more packed than this at times,, you can literally walk boat to boat.q
The river is 32 miles long,, I'm guessing 35-40% looks like that on any weekend right now. In Michigan if you get to the launch after 6am,, you will probably be waiting for 2-2.5 hours too launch, that's with 2-4 launches in use. Hopefully the parking lot doesn't fill too capacity, before you get your boat in the water. They run golf carts to get you to and from your trucks, that can be a mile or more away.
Perch run is also in full swing right now,, more so in Lake Erie, although lots being caught off the docks in the river as well.
Back at it tomorrow!

Well U.S. border patrol does have a machine gun mounted on their boats.
And Michigan is an open carry state(look at the whole picture,, not just the fish) nice belt buckle!

Why do you call this a disaster? I see nothing wrong with 15-20000 fisherman going out on a weekend and fishing a body of water legally.

Depends what side of the river you launch from.. generally just a phone call too customs letting them know you are in foreign water, or are returning too home waters. Have too have either a Michigan or Ontario fishing lic. depending on where you are fishing. Different limits for different sides of the river.
Today we limitted in 2 hours, with a bonus musky and a sturgeon on for about 10 minutes.

Limits nearly everyday and a chance at a 12 lb walleye is why we fish this amazing river. Literally 10 million or more walleye pass through this river every spring.

My fav time of the year is when Colchester lights up about a mile from shore. Nothing better than bottom bouncing for eyes.
