Strange Brass Markings, HELP!
cleaned some 300 win mag brass for reloading, and after tumbling, found that ALL my winchester brass had some notched marks at the ends of the necks. not sure if they were there before, and do not have any left to check. all my federal brass has no marks. same gun, all 180 grain. can i relaod these winchester brass? all brass measured 2.615 - 2.620 lenght, .342 case neck diameter.
federals on the left, win. on the right.

Safe to reload?
Heck yes, those marks were there before. They are factory crimp marks. Resize and trim as usual and all will be good.

HUH??????...those are reloads that have the bullet landed in the rifling...too far forward....factory rounds DO NOT look like that!!!!!..if they're reloads....consult your manual regarding case length and overall length...DICK 284 and Cat are way better on me than this...but to me thats dangerous!

If the rifling was that far back the gun is junk. He would never have loaded a round in the chamber. I say factory crimp, press on

Looks to me like you are not seating your bullets deep enough to the cannalure on the bullet and your die is crimping below it.
Do you always crimp?
Are your cases hard to eject?
What brand of dies are you using?
Good luck
Phil

Factory Winchester silver label 7mmWSM in the picture showing a factory crimp. I bought a box of el cheapo ammo (relatively speaking) to run through the new tube as a break-in before I start to find a load.
Maybe email Winchester with your observations
