Two weeks ago I was chatting with a fella who lost his commercial fishing rights for Lac Ste Anne. His understanding was that it wasn't permanent and it was only to allow the fish stocks to recover. He was expecting to get the commercial rights back in a couple/few years. I don't know if that's accurate or not. Regardless, when he lost his commercial fishing rights, he didn't lose his assets as well so he didn't lose anything monetarily. I guess that it'd be a different story if commercial fishing licenses are bought and sold by individuals, that would suck.

Guys a previous RFMA owner is a trapper that has best opportunity to be approved for a new line. The next is Junior with 3-5 years plus good fur numbers, next would be a Resident trapper with high fur numbers over a few
years along with lots of traps and equipment. I cannot see them approving a Junior with a few weekends of trapping and 3 marten with 2 squirrels over a dedicated Resident trapper. Just my 2 cents.

My understanding is they were bought and sold licenses/Quota's for lakes and some for substantial monies. Equipment used wouldn't be much different price wise to a trapper by the time you rigged up with nets/jiggs/snowmobile/quads and associated equipment.

Guys, just checked my trapline maps. The line being offered is actually around two townships, actually touches 3-4 townships, has a river along line, near Slave Lake. Some of you guys wanting a line should consider kicking the tires
as price is lower than most offered in last while. New cabin and good snowmobile. Seems to have decent fur numbers and limited logging & oil activity.

Lots of otter on the river there. I know the guy personally and it has been a good line for the limited amount of trapping that has gone on there.

It sounds like it really depends on which office you're dealing with.
I think I'm 3-5 years out nube, depending on price. If I could buy a line for 25k that was worth trapping I could make it happen sooner.
Things should really start coming together for me financially over the next few years and I'll be able to save significantly more yearly.

I blew the Trapline fund yesterday on a couple lake lots which were priced too low to not buy. I'm back to square one, it's just a delay and I haven't given up.
Someone else will have to buy this line!

Guys line #1900 is located by Fawcett lake about 20 miles west of Slave lake. Windfall is west of Whitecourt and Wildwood is west of Stoney Plain and they are not near the #1900 trapline. FYI
