The way that outfitting is currently structured in this Province it is only a hindrance to resident hunting opportunity. Resident hunting groups should do all they can to bring this message to government.

Considerable discussion has been occurring amongst government and various interest groups and individuals regarding possible changes to sheep hunting regulations. The purpose of this summary document is to provide government with common concerns and suggested solutions from a number of interested groups and individuals including the WSFA, APOS, AFGA and SCI......
Totally agree. Wondering what the other interest groups position will be now that APOS has thrown the resident hunters under the bus.

Prior to this letter from APOS there had been a united group (SCI, APOS, WSFA, AFGA) letter submitted in response to the proposed sheep management plan. It was focused on the lack of an action plan for habitat, predators (along with other concerns) - all significant contributors to the sheep herd and management as a whole.
There are rumblings that many within APOS are not happy with this letter and I hope the unhappy APOS members are letting those responsible for the letter know how they feel.
I don't feel that the letter is something that should cause these other groups to panic and stray from the position of the united front - which was to set personal agendas aside and focus on the betterment of sheep and their habitat. If anything I hope it makes the resolve of AFGA, SCI, and WSFA even stronger to stick together and focus on sheep, sheep habitat, and the other variables that are all key in sheep management.

This is great in theory, but in actuality couldn't be farther from the truth.
Saying APOS and true resident hunting groups (AFGA, ABA) are on the same side is akin to saying the NCC (Nature Conservancy of Canada) is on the same side as CAPP (Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers).
The sooner resident groups take off the rose colored glasses, the better.
APOS is doing a good job of representing its members needs and objectives. It's time that the aforementioned hunting groups do the same.

The bottom line is that APOS is only concerned with APOS, and putting money in their pockets, they could care less about anyone else. If resident hunters had to lose more opportunity in order to put more money into the pockets of APOS, they would be fine with that.

That is exactly what this APOS letter has done - it has created an us against them, a them against us mentality and focus. The focus has been removed from where it belongs - and that is with creating a proper and complete sheep management plan.
I'm not suggesting for one minute that AFGA and APOS have the same interest groups, they certainly do not. They do have a common theme however - and that is sheep. The proposed sheep management plan is a very rough, very incomplete document - not one well suited to properly managing a resource (sheep in this case). The intent of a unified front is to hold AEP accountable to create a thorough and complete management plan and document.

If the rumblings are true, APOS actually is not doing a good job of representing it members needs and objectives. It is very short sighted. There are rumblings that a large number of APOS members, and even some of those directly connected to sheep, are not happy with this letter and do not support it.

Do you think APOS is going to change their official position whether or not some members don't like it or support it?

I have spoken with Chad many times over the last year. This APOS statement is extremely revealing....

Whats so revealing about the APOS statement now WB, almost a year later? I thought my claims of greed, refusal to give up opportunity etc was BS.
