Rotating Peep
My Stinger package peep has rotated 180 degrees out of shooting alignment (it is a tube type peep), and at draw the face of the peep is not perfectly open so I get more of an oval than circle.
Anyone got an idiot proof DIY wayto fix this without taking it to the shop?
Thx

If you have a D-Loop on your string turn the loop towards where the peep is facing and this may fix your problem. Hope this helps, Pete

If you moved your peep up or down to align your anchor/eye then you have probably twisted your string. Easiest way to fix it is to move 1 strand from each side of the peep to the other causing the peep to rotate. If you have never split a string before I would suggest taking it to a bow shop, but once you see it done and buy a string splitter you will be good to go.

If its 180 out then split your string and turn it a 180 and put it back in using a string splitter. I wouldn't recommend turning your D-loop 180

It is likely that the string has streached, and the peep it is not in the place it needs to be anyway. Go to the archery shop and they'll help you get it sorted out. It's quite useful to measure the distance from the axle of the top cam to the peep, or your nocking point to the peep, just so you have a reference. If it ever moves or blows out of your string at least you'll know exactly where it was before and save you a bunch of messing around!

Its caused by string creep. I think stock string material on the Stingers is Dynaflight 97 for the string and 450 plus for the cable. The D97 is not a very stable material and will keep creeping. So even if you get it turned around it will probably do the same thing at some point. If you do get it flipped around its best to use a bowpress to relax the string and do the work. Or you can buy a string splitter to split open the string so you can pop out the peep, I've done this way, but much prefer relaxing the string.

Thx Guys, I will pull it out and turn 180 degrees as a quick fix and then see about getting new strings and a better peep. Another perfect example of why trying to buy economy just ends up costing more. I bought the package for circa $500, spent $180 on a new sight last week and I suspect a better peep and quality strings are going to set me back another $150. I should have just bought the better quality Madness package and I am old enough to know better. ARRRRRR.

Ya, Kinda bites. Too bad you didn't have a buddy who had experience with bows and archery. For that kind of money you could have got a ready to shoot 2 to 4 year old bow that would have needed next to no work, only slight adjustments to fit you. Sounds like you bought a decent sight though, and whatever you end up shooting yo will be able to take that with you!

I think he already has an IQ sight, so no need for the Anchor. Likely just using the peep to get the feel of how the retina lock is supposed to look. Don't forget the guy is new to archery and it does take a while to get your feet wet. Lots to absorb!

Roger that, frustrating isn't it, gotta learn some do it yourself peep work, or take it to bow shop. Give the peep a shot for awhile then try anchor sight, bigger and easier and 100 percent do it yourself. Those r the options as I see em. good luck

Yes, ordered the IQ but it is not clear to me reading the threads and watching the promo video whether eliminating the peep is possible? I haven't got the sight yet but the video very clearly shows the camera angle taken through a peep. The video also shows a peep apperture much wider than whats on my bow. Can anyone tell whether i can eliminate the peep with the IQ? or even if I can, would keeping the peep on provide any advantage?

IMHO keep your peep until you get comfortable with the bow....I think you need to take the small steps first before you get immersed in complication. For the time being forget the retina even exists and use the peep and sight as though there was not retina lock.
Take stinky coyote up on his offer to assist.....I can guarantee it will be well worth it.
Once you get used to the bow....set up the retina lock for your anchors and form, being a new guy....you won't know these things yet it all comes with time. Once you have your anchors then leave the peep on and set up the retina lock....both can be used at the same time. Then when you have that mastered....bye bye peep forever.

The IQ replaces your peep sight just like the anchor and the no-peep. They take the video through a peep so you can visualise how it will replace your peep. No Worries!
Some people leave their peep on to ween themselves off of it.

Don't fret. The bowmadness wouldn't have gotten you better strings there still PSE in house strings. You would have been paying for some of PSE"s other technology. I say shoot the crap outta that bow, get comfortable, and then look at getting something new.

X2..Wise words
Eliminate peep completely is also a outstanding statement...the Anchor would be my choice also for weaning ..lol
IMHO the rubber tube peep is the worst thing going on todays bows...I saw a PSE set of strings destroyed in 75 shots due to rubber tube...back in the day when cables and string to tear drops attachment where short string attached the tubes didnt do much damage...with todays modern bows over 300FPS your asking for problems...also know two shooters with eye damage due to the tubes...

Fixed my rotating peep problem; I bought a Mathews Extreme with WBS strings from Lost Arrow.
