Default Elk Bugling Already?

I had a freind in the debolt area tell me that the elk were already bugling, not hard by any means but predicts the first week of archery season is going to rock.I mean thats in 19 days.Has anyone else heard them talking yet?He shoots a 300+ elk every year with his bow so i kind of think he might know what hes talking about but dam that seems early.Anyone got any predictions
them selves.

That is only going to make the wait for opening day much, much tougher.

In the heat down here, I think it's going to be a while yet before they start talking.

I agree with you hoochie,I had them coming in on a rope by the 10th sept.

I think personally that you need 2 really good frosts in sept b-4 they realy get going.

The one year i never shot my bull till the 26th sept so i think that it depends
on the amount of cold nights.

I agree... Seems like after a couple of cooler nights if not frosts get them ready to start singing... Cant wait till the opener.!!

Default elk rut

hey boys, the elk talk all year round. just a matter of if anyone is around to hear them. they are going thru their staging and displaying right now, learning who is who in their given area. come the rut all the bulls will know each others bugles.
secondly the frost or colder weather does not determine the rut. it is the cows estrus cycle that determines when the rut will take place. the change in the weather seems to throw the rut activity into high gear< to the point that us hunters notice anyways.

anyways my prediction is the same as every year, sept 15. they can be called as early as aug 25 if you use the right technique, just gets easier the closer to the middle of sept. anyways take care, rob.
