Repair Sako A7 synthetic stock
Put a bipod on my sako. First time ever
Son grabs the bipod leg, snaps it down and breaks the stud and 2" of plastic right off the stock. Great.....
Stoeger offers me a replacement stock for $480.
Gentleman on CGN offers one for $200. Pretty darn good deal now that i think about it, however.....
Enter Canadian Tire......
Fibreglass mat, resin, hardner, paint brush. $43
Re-fibreglassed the front of the stock. Inserted the stud and its receiver and fibreglassed them into place.
Dremel tool 80 grit wheel to buff it all down to about the right look
Done.
Its not beautiful, but its fixed. And it beats the heck out of replacing the stock
And it was a neat project for a chilly cloudy day
I was reading about polymers and copolymers and adhesion attributes, then i got a headache reading that stuff, and decided to try fibreglass. Maybe it will all fall apart, who knows but for now it seems to have worked
