We also used gasoline... Makes a real colorful muzzle blast. We had one set up where we could load it with a potato, put a handful of gravel in the he barrel land blow a 2 foot hole through 3/4 inch form plywood at 50 yards. We just swab the chamber with a rag with gas on it, screw on the end cap, wait about 20 seconds for the fumes to build up then hit the BBQ lighter.... What fun
