Default Reloading Kit......

I am looking at starting too reload instead of factory ammo. I saw some kits online for 180 (lee precision). Are they worth it? Or buy the press and everything separately?

I would buy the press and everything separately. I started with a kit and there is a bunch of stuff I don't use in it. Plus you need to buy a bunch of little items still yet before you can start. Shell holders, dies, ect. You can get better quality buying separate and used stuff can always be had at a discount. A good press is essential. It's the heart of everything. The old style beam scales are the cheapest and most reliable/accurate. ( I do use electronic, Hornady self dispensing gizmo) reloading is a lot of fun. Always more to learn and once you start shooting reloads there is no going back!

How much do you want to spend? (Do you have a ton of extra income)
What caliber do you want to load?
Do you want to hit a fly or a tin can at 100 yards?

That is a good way to get started.

If your budget is around the $200-250 mark, the RCBS partner press kit is a good way to go. I've added quite a bit to it over the years, but it will get you started just fine. Includes a manual too. Press is very solid for its size.

You can always start with a lee classic kit. $40 for the basics, add a scale and eventually a case trimmer. That's how I started and I have a lee classic in every caliber available that I reload. Still only use the lee classic for my 45-70s. Time consuming but worth it.
