Default Pictures and thoughts of your Jet/River Boats

Hey guys

Im really wanting a jet/river boat and I would love to see what guys are running and what their thoughts are on them. I found a 20' marathon with a 175 sportjet for a reasonable price. I would love to see some of your river boat photos

I had a 2001 Eagle E5 Sabre with a 175HP Sportjet. When I sold it, it had 200hrs and I got $22500. It was in very good condition, no dents, decent paint, etc. I believe this was a fair price if you wanted to base your search on that. I didn't use it enough to keep that much boat laying around. I did not like the 175 Sportjet mainly because it was so noisy, it would vibrate the whole hull and resonate evrywhere at high RPM's. The performance was satisfactory, I could go up to 50 MPH with 2 people in the boat.

22' Rio Classic by ThunderJet. It is not a sinny water machine, but it will go most places I require. I use this boat just about everywhere theres water. A bigger boat has the advantage on lakes and the saltchuck. Added advantage is it is camperized for longer trips.

Got a 20ft outlaw Clearwater with some custom interior finishing around the engine cover. AT 312 pump, 350kodiak, 1/2" bottom plus uhmw. Like the boat runs shallow for a bigger boat, very tough, rides good for a riverboat. Had a 18ft outlaw lynx for 4 years before with a 240 sportjet. Boat was better for smaller rivers as it turned a lot tighter. rode a lot rougher though. Run the Mcleod river a lot by edson and have hit a few rocks with no damage on either boat. Those sport jets are good motors for lighter boats had about 200 hrs on that 240 and never touched it.

I'm running a 16' Outlaw Lynx with a 240 SJ, IMO the 175 is going to leave you a little under powered in a 20' boat especially when you load it up with a couple people food etc. Does the Marathon have teflon on it? What shape is the bottom in? Make sure you get it in the water and drive it before buying it. The 175 has been known to drop the oil injection pump also.

20' Outlaw Clearwater with 5.7 litre and AT-312.
I have since sold this boat as I found that I wasn't using it enough where I live.
Make sure your gonna use it enough to warrant buying it.
Also talk to your insurance about insuring it. Boat insurance can get quite expensive with big horsepower jet boats because your regualr house insurance will only insure boats up to a certain horsepower. After that you must go to a specialty boat insurance company. You shouldn't have that problem with a 175 SJ but I think the magic number is 300 HP if I remember correctly.

FYI, there is some good reading and info on the outlaw eagle website about jet boats.

Default My boat

.......... is pretty much the same as Joe Fehr's except mine has the 175SJ in it. Mine doesn't seem underpowered but of course it is only 16' long. I love this boat but I don't seem to get the time to use it much anymore .............

I just got mine last summer and love it. Its great on the lake 14 degree haul, and have only gone up the bow river west of ghost lake a little ways. sure is a fun boat to drive. hope to try more skinny water this summer. the boat is a 2008 Harbercarft 1975 Fas****er, 200 hp optimax, gps says it goes 45 mph with 4 of us in the boat. we fish then tube, then fish then tube. we hit bottom once in ghost trolling slow, fishing. and no big deal just gave it throttle and off we went. my brother did this once in his inboard and it cost him $2000. thats why I bought a jet. Here's a picture of my mid life crises. RIELAXING

Great pics, looks like a lot of fun with the family. How is the jet for pulling the kids on the tube & skis? I picked mine up in Portland this January so we haven't had it out yet. I am hoping that it is a good all around boat with a 12 degree hull and the 350 engine.

They pull a tube allright just use a long rope the kids will get sick of the jetwash in their face 12 degrees will be rough in rough water but I'm sure you will love it great all around boats I've run one for 10 yrs. and would never go back to an outboard

IT's great, but get your tow rope a little longer, because you can really throw some water back at them on tube, sometimes. One Plus for the jetboat is you can stop real Quick if you want, just throw it in reverse. Turns on a dime to. not sure how good it would be for wake boarding? I want to try it this summer. my boat doesn't really make much of a wake. I hope you enjoy your new boat as much as we love are's .oh ya my dog really loves it to.
