Shimano, I've had bad luck with every other brand (with the exception of Mitchell).

I love Shimano. If I am not using Shimano then I use Zebco.

Daiwa. I've got a BG 15 and that thing is more heavy duty than most baitcasters these days.

I get putting some of the reel companies togeather but I dont understand your method. Unless I'm mistaken several of those companies are affiliated but you dont have the affiliated ones listed togeather. As well making a Mitchell guy share his vote with Zebco is nothing short of henious.

In days past before your time FH7 I would have said Diawa, Mitchell and Penn. I still like Penn.

For me, my favorite reel company hands down is Pfluger. I have been running my Pfluger for about six years with solid with heavy use. The reel is a bit scratched up now and stuff though that thing still runs just as if I bought it yesterday.(touch wood). They even seem to be a "reasonable price" and have the wicked awesome looks of a top end reel IMO. The only thing now that would stop me from getting another Pfluger president, is if they quit making them. I have tried many reels that were more costly and from different companys that still didn't seem as smooth as the president. The only more costly reel that I found that was smoother, was a quantum.

It seems as if the bottom line quantums lack in quality compared to other brands of reels though the more top end one quantums seem to perform smoother than some of the other company's top endish reels.

My oldman owns a 30 year oldish Daiwa that has landed 60lb chinook salmon and probably thousands of other fish. All that's had to be replaced on it, was a line bail roller lip.

all quantumns were good even at entry level after the couple years you started to get what you paid for. i got a few old quantumns around that look very cheap and are but work great. now i buy a quantumn for $100 and its crap.

x 2. Had to fix the handle on one (careless brother) but 4 of them still in action today. 2 medium size silver ones and 2 large gold salt water models which were $150 in the states back then!

I think those Black Gold reels are about the best bargain you can find, I wouldnt be surprized if I wear out befor my reel does. I think the cost is still between 70 and 150 bucks depending on which size you want.

the older Sustains were incredible...better than the current Stella
the older ptiA energy reels are better than the currrent B series
shimano and quantum are my only considerations in the current reel market

For me Quantum is the best. My favorite Quantum reel would have to either the Energy Pt 10 spinning or the Tour Edition Pt 10 spinning. For the Energy reel I like the newer model better. For the Tour Edition I like the blue one better not the new grey one.

quantum, hands down. combining them like that is pointless for a poll, so not voting.

Default Shimano

Shimano especially since the C14 awesome smoothest reel other than your $500 plus reels
