Default Update on the Sibbald Rifle Range (pics)

I was out west today and just had to see the flood damage heading into the Sibbald rifle range. They've done lots of work, but there's a ways to go. They have greatly raised the level of the road, and the construction of the new bridge is now underway. They have also replaced the culverts north of the Jumping Pound with much larger ones. Hopefully this will work. We were fishing west of there, and some of the effects of the flood were really impressive.

Interesting.
I don't see any of that landscape fabric that's used to prevent sediment from getting into waterways! Not that it would make any difference with all the dirt deposited during the flood erosion - but I thought it was firm requirement when working near waterways now.

That's a really good point, Thumper. I noticed nothing in that respect. In retrospect, that is a bit odd. Maybe I'll bug Volker Stevin tomorrow.

Safe to say that the Sibbald range is still out of commission (as of Oct2008)? That's about the only public one I know of anywhere around Calgary. Looks like i might be heading to the general Green belt to sight in for this year's deer hunt...

It's been open for a while. I was out there three weeks ago on a weeknight.
