If this gains ground we may all go out with a whimper.

And I had such a good day today.

Yup China really needs to clean up a little bit. Every major flu begins in China that’s a fact. Plague is a bacteria and that’s treatable with antibiotics..this flu isn’t and can’t be.

Massive over population and super dense crowding, human version of Factory Farming. No fix for viruses and they mutate readily to defeat counter measures.

Check out Wuhan meat market. They sell every kind of live and dead animals there, butchering them on site. The viruses mutate from animal into human strains and then take off like crazy. Last time around the Chinese government suppressed the news of the progress of the disease until it became a pandemic. We'll see what happens this time around but they seem to have a quicker jump on it vs the SARS outbreak.

That's why they are buying up Canada. They need a little extra space and our country will do nicely......

I was signed up to go in September. They couldn't find enough people willing to go, so they cancelled the tour. Told my kids to watch for me on TV, I'll be the one smiling and waving the hand cuffs.

Tell me where you got hundreds or thousands that have died?

You're overly sensitive.

Co worker of my daughter in Law went to China on a visit and brought back Bird Flu. she died as a result, luckily she didn't pass the infection on. Nothing to be trifled with.

Experts in the UK told the BBC the number of people infected could still be far greater than official figures suggest, with estimates closer to 1,700.

Cases TRIPLED over the weekend. Tripling every 2 days.

300 is 900 by tuesday
2700 by thursday.
8100 by saturday.
24,000 73,000 218,000 656,000 2,000,000 in 14 days if the trend continues. Do you ever look past your own hand?

Millions of chinese are preparing to travel for Lunar new Year holiday.

Are you one of the 'who cares, there's a billion more behind them' guys? Because we go there and they come here.

It's already here I guess... I just read about the first confirmed case of the coronavirus in the US, in Washington State. No stopping it at this point. World is interconnected with easy travel, and it takes 2-3 days for symptoms to even appear. That cat will not be going back in the bag.

Theres been 6 deaths, I would be extremely surprised if 2,000,000 are infected within 2 weeks. Panic all you want, make your daily dramatic post and hit the ignore button if you don't like what I say man.

When sars started in 2003 only then did they shut down the airlines it reached other parts of the world.

I really think that we don't hear the real numbers ,i maybe very wrong, but just a thought.

Shut all airlines if it doubles one more time in very short time, becuase then it's like an avalanche of sick people going abroad travelling.

Heat sensors for body temps at many airports and rail lines or transit movements monitoring thousands if not millions already,so for only 300 sick it's like using a sledge hammer to crack a walnut,so I think it's something bigger then we realize.

Hope for the sake of the people I am wrong.

JD

I heard 6 confirmed deaths from the coronavirus so far. 5 minutes later on the news, 8 deaths from the flu in Edmonton so far this season, something like 32 or 36 in Canada. I guess our epidemic is worse than theirs?

More scare mongering as far as I'm concerned, a big nothing burger. Hope I'm not wrong about it though.

First American case in Washington state, which is a really weird first place. I don't think there are any Asia-direct flights there, so probably through Seattle I am guessing?

I love epidemiology, but pandemics were more interesting before I became a paramedic.

Shutting down the whole country to travel due to 200 seems like a good idea but that would be like shutting down Canada due to 5 cases with 0 deaths.
