It was a matter of time before someone brought up the age of jets, why we still fly them etc.
Nothing to do with disrespecting the fallen, its an open forum and being shared on other forums and nobody's attacking each other for it

This isn't every other forum. We expect better from the members here. You are the one that needs to grow up if you can't figure out this is inappropriate on a thread focused on condolences to the fallen. Start a different thread if you want to have that conversation.

What makes this accident so sad is that the Snowbirds are the last universally beloved institution in what’s left of a tattered Canada, as long ago the rcmp have forsaken their wholesome identity.
That sadness is greatly multiplied given the fact they were on a goodwill mission, trying to bring a bit of joy, awe and tribute to us all.
Also, as someone who was born and raised in N.S., this is just another kick in the nuts. Three members from the helicopter crash were from the province as well. It’s been pretty tough for the good folks there as 2020 has been particularly cruel.
Rest well Captain Casey. Thank you.

I guess with the investigation still on going they would be still grounded. For those in the know, would they bring her home in that form of transport if the investigation wasn’t too much longer? Have they ever brought a deceased team member back home in this fashion?

Snowbirds no but yes in a similar fashion with CF188 and CC150 Polaris when Canada suffered there first casualties of war in a friendly fire incident in Afghanistan in 2002. Subsequently this lead to the formation of theHighway to Hero's. The highway’s name was coined unofficially in 2002, after the first of Canada’s soldiers killed in Afghanistan were repatriated. The remains were flown into Canadian Forces Base Trenton,It was 2007 when the Canadian government renamed the freeway stretching from Trenton, Ontario, to the city of Toronto the Highway of Heroes. Also known as Macdonald-Cartier Freeway or Highway 401, it meanders more than 100 miles, most of it along Lake Ontario.

Early this morning, our friend and teammate, Captain Jennifer Casey, lifted off from Abbotsford on a CC-130J Hercules for her journey home to Halifax. In a private ceremony, we honoured and bid final farewell to our fallen comrade. In the face of this tragedy, the tremendous love and support of people from across Canada, but particularly Kamloops and local First Nations, has been a light in the darkness. From Legion tributes to Drumming Circles to neighborhood support, it has been overwhelmingly encouraging during a very difficult time. We want Canadians, but particularly the people of Kamloops, to know that all the love you have shown for Jenn, Captain Rich MacDougall and the Snowbirds is deeply appreciated, and will never be forgotten. Thank you.

Bird strike possible cause
The May 17 crash that killed a member of the Snowbirds team and injured a pilot may have been caused by a bird, an investigator revealed Monday.
"A detailed analysis of video footage recovered for the investigation revealed one bird in very close proximity to the aircraft right engine intake during the critical phase of take-off," the investigator with the Department of National Defence’s Airworthiness Investigative Authority said in a brief statement.
Both occupants of the CT-114 Tutor aircraft ejected and the plane was destroyed after it crashed into a residential neighbourhood in Kamloops, B.C.
