Default New Remington 700

I was in Prophet River picking up a few orders yesterday, and a fellow was trading in some rifles. One looked like an older 700BDL in mint condition, but the owner told me it was a new production 700. Just taking a quick look, it appeared to be very well made, more like a 1970-1980 rifle than a more recent 700. I was glad to see that the new 700 wasn't cheapened like many new production rifles have been. If a person was in the market for a more traditional blued/wood rifle, the current 700, is still a good option.

I hate to admit it, But I bought a new 700 SPS Varmint in 6.5 CM
the thing looks identical to its pre bankruptcy versions but it does shoot...
I got a .67" line out of 7 shots with federal blue box 140gr powershoks...straight horizontal stringing but what else can you ask for out of a factory rifle with factory ammo.
The trigger is a Timney but is HEAVY and non adjustable unfortunately unless you replace the springs.
I've always loved the look of the 700 so I'm looking forward to seeing what they will bring out.

I handled a new production model 700 BDL in 7mm rem mag recently and was really impressed also. I’d say they are above the mid 2000’s vintage in quality hands down.

I could be talked into a stainless CDL.
Wish they offered it with a decent synthetic stock.

I bought a 6.5 cm and a 7mm-08 from a couple of members on here, both shoot very well. Yes, the stocks suck but the triggers were semi adjustable and the actions were the same as the old school 700's the bolts even had a bit of jeweling on them. For the amount these rifles will ever get used they are a bargain and a half.

Trades I would interested in:
- Sightron rifle scopes, 4.5x14x42mm or 4x16x42mm
especially! with the HHR reticle. (no duplex pls.)
- older 6x fixed scopes with fine X or target dot.
