Default Zeiss HD5 or NF NXS

Looking to scope my newest cooper. 6.5x47 lapua and was hoping to gather a few opinions on these two scopes.

Zeiss HD5 5-25 x 50

Or

Nightforce NXS 8-32 x 56

I'm leaning towards the Nightforce to be able to get the .125 moa adjustment.

Thanks for contributing

Brad

I have been looking as well. Depends what you want to use them for I think. For hunting I have a 4.5x14 leupold scope and I don't like that it starts at 4.5 x. I used to have a leupold 3.5 x 10 and at 3.5 it was much better in the bush. If I get anything it will have to start at 3.5. If I was mostly doing long range I might reach out a bit more. I think about getting into long range shooting but honestly I likely never will. I think both scopes are well made and equally clear but my guess is the nightforce has better repeatability & in the long run will be more reliable along with more weight which may or may not be a positive.

Why do u want .125 adjustment?
What's the gun for?

The NSX is 2 pounds, but it's a tank
I owned one & loved it just was to heavy for what I was doing

Never owned a Ziess

The performance to weight ratio of the Swaro Z5 was very appealing to me...just another option for you to consider.

I have owned an NXS 3.5-15x50, and I currently own an HD5 3-15x42.Both track consistently and repeatably, but the HD5 appears to be better optically, and weighs much less. The newer NXS may be better optically than the one that I owned, as mine is several years old. I plan to install a second HD5 3-15x42 on my new Cooper in 20 Vartarg when it arrives.

Default Scope

I'm going to try my hand at medium distance target shooting. 600 yard kind of stuff. The. 0.125 allows for finer adjustments.

I have a Swarovski z5 already so I thought I'd try the other two.

0.125, 1/8 MOA offers finer adjustment yes......but it also limits the MOA range in most scopes that offer it, halves the amount in many.....and you have to learn to count higher if you want to use one

You could take a look at:

Kahles

k10503 6-24 with 1/8 clicks limited reticles but if you are using second focal plane NF 8-32x56 you need to turn it down to 22x to give the reticle its true calibration.

There is also the 4.5-18 but not really the power range you are thinking of.

I would go with the Zeiss on your hunting rig if you're walking a lot simply due to the weight. The NXS are proven scopes no doubt, I am planning on putting one on my kimber 8400 Police in 300 WM for long range playing. Looking at putting a HD5 on my new build for hunting rig

I should have a Kahles 4.5-18 here late next week. Already have Zeiss HD5 5-25x50 if you want to see how they compare. No 8-32x56 NF as I don't use that model (too big/long). There is a Premier 5-25x56 as well.

Looked at the night force today. It is quite heavy. I'm gonna research the Kahles scope for sure. Zeiss, Kahles or swarovski I guess.

How does the Premier compare? I've never looked at them, do I need one?

At least two. Glass is excellent. Similar to swarovski z6 with fl glass.
