Default Looking For Porcupine

Hello, I've been on the look out for porcupine gaurd hair(the long winter hair from teh back of the porky). Due to the lack of snow in the North East and warm winter they've been on the move more often then in the past, If anyone happens to come across some of them critters and happens to pluck'n'release or even trap em and is lookin to part with em, Give me a call.

Tristan

oic, awesome, I am needing a pound of each, I am always willing to get as much as i can get of the the winter phase thouigh, (black with blonde tip), usually you get a good a size handful from a full grown porky, works out to bout 7-9 porkies to make a pound of good long hair.

Are you using the hair yourself, or selling it?

We sort teh hair out, then we clean it, and string it up to make whats called a roach, men and boys wear em our heads as parts of our outfits, we usually make a new each spring with the winter harvest, its a very lengthy process and for a full adult make size roach like mine, which measure 10" high by 30" long, I need hair from 8 full grown porkys. lol. always happy to inform!
we usually measure teh sorted hair by oz, ex, 9" bundle of hair is sorted into an oz per bundle. then once we have a pound of assorted hair, its enough to make a full size adult roach

Thumbs up

That is awesome...outstanding work...2 questions- why a new one every year...Do they not hold up ...meaning does the fur get brittle or something due to coloring or just because they are used and simply wear....and second how many porcupine's do I have to bring you to barter for one for myself...

Thank you all very much, and as for myself and my fgamily, we make new ones each year because after constant use on an almost weekly basis the colored deer tail hair becomes faded and the porky becomes briddle at the base where its sewn down. So we usually pass them on to beginners to encourage them to start learning and taking part. It all depends on size, the average adult one takes 7-8 porky winter phase hair and the deer tail is all up to you on how many colors you choose, if you were to supply the hair we could work someting out easily. Thanks,
