Yes i can agree with you on the ammo shortage, but to be put on hold and no one comes backs to say sorry we a swamped or sold out, they just don't come back. I have been in the store while the phone was being answered or not not answered, the same thing happens the person says this flippen phone will not stop ringing. The only reason I call, is how many times do you go to WSS and they just don't have what you are looking for. they never had camo in October this year. the problem is unless you order for down south, get used to the service.
it is just not right...

I shop whole sale sports if I can find what I want on the shelf. Similar to walmart, I shop there to save money and expect no service.
To give whole sale Calgary some credit, I have had great service in their fishing dept, but the gun side is the worst.

You think that everyone can cruise 300 km's to a store on the off chance it might be in stock?

Well my sisterinlaw grew up in edmonton and she does not like being taken for granted. She stood in line on day for 25 minute and everytime another man showed up the staff helped him first, Finally she got pi$$ed off and hollered loud enough that everyone in the store heard her "WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO STAND UP TO **** TO GET SERVICE" from that day on everytime she goes into wholesales she gets really good service...........lol

I've only been there once. That was enough fer me. Never again. I'll shop online & pay shipping before peeling off greenbacks fer them. Its simular to going to turple brothers in Reddeer. What a joke. 20 people running around without a clue.... gotta love it.

I only go to WSS if a) I know they have the item I need, b) no one else carries it, and c) I have to have it pronto.
Mind you, last time I was in the Calgary store on November 2nd, a new employee served me promptly and got the 30 cal gas checks I needed with a minimum of fuss in 5 minutes, plus as a bonus, she was very nice on the eyes....

I gotta say the lethbridge wholesale has been good anytime i've went there. Fairly quick service people at gun counter have some knowledge. Fishin depart always get help or ask if need help.
Went to cdn tire mcleod tr. to ask about a winchester wildcat 22lr bolt gun and it took alot of convincing that they are available he told me i was full bs that win doesnt ship guns anymore then i asked about the shotgun behind him a win. semi. He smiled took my name ## and would look into it.

You may have to phone in but just because they put you on hold does not mean they do not want to do business with you. They may be serving a customer that is ahead of you, that customer may be in the store or on another line. It is the reverse when you go into a store and the staff are on the phone you are the second customer in line and you have to wait until the staff are done conducting their business.

gordon ramsey KICKS *****...that is what is needed in retail...TIME TO BE ACCOUNTABLE!!...I have one thing to say to all companies that EXPAND and open more stores..if you can't EMPLOY them properly, then quit trying to PRETEND...don't bother opening up another spot!..take care of the customers you have to the very very best...and that goes for the employees' you have..treat them very very good...without the above...as an owner..you have DIDDLY!

What do we have for local gun stores?
Wholesale Service 4/10 Selection 7/10 Pricing 8/10 Overall 19/30
Russell Service 8/10 Selection 10/10 Pricing 8/10 Overall 26/30
ProLine Service 6/10 Selection 5/10 Pricing 5/10 Overall 16/30
Ctire - Mcleod Service 7/10 Selection 6/10 pricing 8/10 Overall 21/30
These are my thoughts on the 4 stores in Calgary I have experiance with, none get a 10 in service but I do prefer Russell for their wider selection of bullets and reloading equipment, I especially like that you can browse these items without having to get service, sometimes being able to help yourself is priceless. Are there any others that should be on the list?

Your confused if you think I'm going to pay to stand in line. If telephone is important to WS they'd make sure there's someone to at least take a message.

I found the store staff in Boise to be awsome even when my 12 week old Brit took a dump they insisted on cleaning it up said no problem. The only similarity with Wholesale is somthing has been S _ _ T on but I always feel like its been me

Yes their in store service leaves alot to be desired but I must admit that I've always had good luck with their mail order. I always order on line and get things shipped fairly quickly. To give and example I ordered a couple of things on line for gifts and a day later they phoned to say that they didn't have one item in stock and it would be 10-15 days before they would get more and would I still want the remainder of my order shipped. Can't really complain about that. But having said all that I still prefer to shop from Bashaw's.

WS Lethbridge
I was in WS in Lethbridge last night and purchased a couple of things. The store was busy but there were lots of staff and they were very helpful with me determining my purchases.

If you get good service you tell a few friends,If you get bad service you tell EVERYONE too bad they don't realize this. They are almost the only game around and if you don't go there you do without.I called for flambeau decoys and was told they had 4 boxes drove in from Camrose they had none and I was told that they must have sold them all in the hour and a half it took me to get there. The girls on the checkout couldn't remember selling them.I sympathize with all of you....jack MERRY XMAS you all

I miss the days when I was younger, when Frenchy's was on 9th ave in Calgary. I got really good service and a lot of good advice from there. When I was a kid I remember my dad taking me to a gun shop in Calgary, I can't remember the name but it was just off of 52nd street in Forest Lawn. (The Hood). It was a mom and pop kinda place but it was the only place my dad would go. I wish i could remember the name of it. too bad it's gone now. Even as a kid I knew that the service their was A-1!

The gun shop in the hood was on 17th ave se. was a great little gun shop, bought my first gun from them. that is when there was a choice and everyone had to be fair priced and service made or broke the store that goes for all department stores. Maybe if they acted like some staff in the store cared then it would not be that bad.

Gramps,
I know the one you are speaking of and your right that was a great store as well. But this one was right by the totem on 52nd. It would be where the bottle depot is now. Let's just hope for better service from the limited amount of stores we have in Calgary. Merry Christmas.

Out of town but better service
I have had the same experience at wholesale.
Found Russels better but still rushed.
I have delt with Bashaw sports and I got great service.780-372-4440
Not much for selection, but at Caroline sports I found a few items I couldn't find anywhere else and good service.
For better prices on rifles try Rayn'er shine gunworks out of Sask. good guy n will get anything you want. 306-689-2783
