I wonder if there is a possible chance to bag a Elk with the farmers permission; with The bovine found in the southern cattle... im sure they will want the cattle to roam that area soon... its not harvested land...

You might have a chance if you have a dec or jan cow tag. More likely late season as the guide is not likely running.

Don't waste your time you will never ever get in there unless you are related to Copithorne same as for most of that area most is owned by them. It's been like that for well over 25 years or longer i know dozens of people who have tried.

It's so hard to tell if you mis-typed, or what... Did you want to go, or "didn't" ? Nobody else seems to care about grammar or punctuation on the internet.

But IMHO, that's laziness... Get out of your car/truck, or put the phone/keyboard down, and go knock on doors.

Nobody's gonna give permission to every (or any) stranger that calls their phone, without seeing the person in the flesh first... That's just how it is.

You could spend your time trying to get video of them taking payments from outfitters, then blackmail them for access.

You'll probably have better luck at that lol

I went to school with Roger Copithorne, good guy.
Not sure if he's still on the family ranch or which one.
As for knocking on doors, some of those places you'll hit a closed gate a mile from any house.
Good luck.

If you have a smart phone - I suggest buying iHunterAB and purchasing the county map for the area you are in.

It's about $15 per county but its worth it. Helps you make sure you are hunting on the land you have permission for, and has contact info. for lease land (not for owned though). Used it in November, found it very useful. Can identify the name on the land you're looking at if its owned, will need to look up their phone numbers somewhere else.

Good luck!

Rick Guinn charges $300 for an cow elk guide. He's a great guy and probably out looking for cats right now. Give him a call.

Yes, some of the information is open source, but worth it for portability and as the GPS will show you exactly where you are. Last county map (hard copy) I bought was $25 so price is reasonable to me.
