I use cordura chaps, and the thorns do not get through them. Leather will absorb water . which will soak through your pants, which will result in you being cold and wet. Wet leather is also heavy.

I have a pair of Filson single Tin Chaps and although not leather have stood up to everything I've walked through. I found mine on Amazon years ago, but it looks like they are no longer available. You can order direct from Filson at http://www.filson.com/single-tin-chaps-1.html not sure where you could find them in store, but more retailers in Calgary (Campers Village, Hanson's Outfitters and even Canadian Tire on McLeod) carry Filson products.

I have a few pairs of chaps, the ones that I use most are sold by Browning. Any Browning dealer can bring them in.

My chaps are the Browning/ Phrasants forever chaps and are over 15 years old
They have been repaired many times and are now trimmed in leather because of the fraying on the cuffs .
They do very well on everything from Russion Olive to wild Roses
I never go anywhere without them!
I have used leather chaps in the past but find them too heavy for lots of walking

I have three pairs and wear them almost daily for work. I order directly from Filson without issue. Haven't seen them in any stores for years...

That is the same make and model of chaps that I usually wear, only mine are only a few years old.

Make sure you don"t buy the assless version or it'll be hard to get permission from landowners. Especially if you're humming YMCA during the walkup.

What is a good place to purchase the Pheasants Forever chaps? I am going to use some for the following season.

Pretty sure all chaps are assless or they would just be pants.
