Ruger RSM 375H&H scope suggestions

Hey guys! First post here! Last summer I picked up a very nice Ruger RSM in 375H&H. I’ve been debating what to put on it for a scope, here are some criteria:

-shots on game from 50-400 yards
- objective smaller than 44mm

Please give me some insight into what you would put on this rifle!

1 x 6 Leupy with firedot and CDS in a 30mm tube - heavy duplex

I have a Swarovski Habicht, 3-10X42 with a 4A reticle on my 375. The 3X has a wide enough field of view for close range and the 10X is great for reaching out on the longer shots.

I have a leupold vx3 2x8x33 on a 375h&h. Works for my needs which are no shots over 100 yards.

I have a Ruger RSM in .375 H&H...beautiful rifle. I need to sell it because of a shoulder injury. I was planning to look for a Leupold 1.5-6x scope for it, however the Trijicon lighted reticle scpes are beautiful (although beyond my budget).

I am also thinking somewhere in that range with a leupold. If you want PM some pics and details about your RSM I may know a guy looking for one.

I had a 1.5-6 x24 Leupold on my 338 that i set up for my grizzly gun as back in the 80s you could just buy a general tag over the counter.

Worst scope ever built with a 24mm objective.
I sold the scope after 5 year and mounted a 3.5-10 X40 Leupold on it .

Pros. They are light weight .

Cons. They do not gather in light because of the 24 mm objective lens.
When set on lower power it almost looks like the bear is farther away .

The 375 is more than competent out to 5 or 600 yards. Depending on the distances you are shooting would dictate the scope for me. Mine has a 3x9x44 with a Boone and Crockett Reticle and quick disconnect rings so I can use the open sights if I want to up close. Only thing I wish I had done is getting a lighted reticle. Just for giggles I have had it out night shooting hogs in Texas and a lighted cross hair would have been nice at night or close to the end of legal shooting light up here.

Your better off with a 1.75- 6 x 32 if only shooting under 100 yards.
But i would suggest going bigger like 3- 10 x40 for longer shot on Elk and moose and bears .


I had a 2-8 x32 on mine also for awhile it ended up going on my Browning 22 lever . Just was not good on low light conditions.

Tasco World Classic 1.75-5x20mm Gloss Black Finish
Had a Bushnell first on my Sako 375, then tried the above scope, did not expect to stand up, but it has for over 400 or more rounds, just bought another from an auction, they seem to work.

I’ll second the notion that rifle should wear a gloss scope, leupold. VX 2 3-9x40 has a long enough tube to fit the rings and is tough enough. M8 6x42 also a good choice.

A fixed power 6 with a CDS would be handy.

My .375 Weatherby wears a 6x leupold with long range reticle. Easy 500 yard elk rifle.

My 375 (Ruger Alaskan) wears a 2.5-8 x 36 Leupold. The smaller scope suits this 20" barrelled beast.

I had a 2.5-10x40 ZEISS victory on my 378 wby
Wish I didn’t sell it
Would be perfect for my 416 ruger
It was a unique reticle
Only a dot and it was illuminated
For up close work, I don’t think there is anything better

Yes I really want the rifle to wear a gloss scope, however they are becoming very hard to find in good condition! I was initially set on a classic small objective dangerous game style scope. However, after evaluating I’m thinking that maybe something in the 3.5-10x40 range will be better. I’ve got a Ruger m77 stainless laminate in 338win mag that wears a vx3 3.5-10x40 and it has been my go to rifle for 15 years. If Anyone has any leads on a gloss scope let me know!

I've got a #1 in 375 and put a Bausch & Lomb 2x7x32.
Lots of view and enuf to touch at 300.

Beauty! I was going to suggest my 2.5-8X36 Leup III, but it has marks.
That deserves something special
