First time antelope hunting. Pass on this or drop him?

Scouting for trophy Antelope? He's a nice buck...

It's really up to you. There's guys here who wouldn't shoot that buck. I wouldn't as I have one a bit bigger but that's me. Only you can decide what it is that's a trophy for you.

He’s not the best scoring buck around (maybe 72 - 74) but he has a beautiful black mature face. For your first buck he’s a gooder.. by Wednesday those type of bucks are going to be a lot harder to find..

Trophy is in the eye of the beholder not the people on this forum now if you're looking for a Boone and Crockett I would pass

Many look for 2-2.5 times ear length in horn length (not taking into account any curl), cutters above the ears and cutter length that is ear width. Mass is the big thing.

If you have time keep looking. Antelope seem to shrink when you get up to them.

Good luck.

Sealed the deal on a different buck. 3/4 of a mile stalk with 200 yards of belly crawling to get within 200 yards.

Here are a few more pics from the day. The little buck being chased off by the bigger one was a cool interaction to watch. Especially with all the sage and grass hanging from his horns.

Beauty Antelope Sam. It looks like you made a wise decision to pass on that first one.
Pretty cool to see the herd bucks chasing other bucks. I watched the same thing this fall while archery hunting them. I swear they covered a mile in just a few seconds, very cool to see.
What zone did you manage to get him?

Congrats, he's a beauty.

Congrats on a sweet buck.

I pulled the plug on a plan to join some friends on what would have been my first lope hunt and am sitting on my more than enough points waiting for my son to catch up so we can hunt them together. Then hopefully I get one more hunt with him for lopes when I am old lol.
