Everyone
Looking for help tracking down 308 Winchester 180 grain Silvertip
Not ballistic Silvertip
They shoot well in my dads rifle. He’s almost out.

This ammo is not listed in Winchester’s ammo catalogue for 2019.
Maybe think about finding something else, because the availability is going to be pretty sketchy, as all you’ll find is left overs and last of’s.
Better yet, think about reloading.

Seeing as how this load is discontinued, your only hope is to find some old stock, you would be wise to try a current load.

Oh trust me... I know.
He is soooooo stubborn
A one rifle man And very good with it and those old Silvertip were MOA.
He’s having a hard time letting go of what he knows and is proven.
I’ll keep looking for old stock
I have tried to get him to at least try 180 corlokt and 180 Sako super hammerhead bonded ....
Not budging yet.

Guys on here will help as much as possible but your best bet when looking for old stock is to start calling gun stores. Start closest to home and work outwards. UFA, Canadian Tire and Walmart may be worth checking too. I would also put a want to buy add in Canadian Gunnutz, there are a lot of eastern members who may have a bunch of old stock ammo.

You could also try auction sales, I have seen lots of old ammo in those auctions!
They usually have an online list of items for sale, etc
icollector is a good site to check for, etc.
Also check to gun shows, always old ammo there.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip.
I talked with them and they have been out inventory for a couple years now.
They gave me a few places to call and still coming up empty.

Only place I have seen it is the odd gun show. Been a long time since they made them, more than a decade. Thought I saw some at the Calgary show once.

My dad won’t shoot anything other that 180gr Imperial Sabretips out of his 30.06. Lol.

I seem to recall this as well, most likely at the Easter show but possibly at Thorncliffe. Perhaps a phone call to the older shops might bring some luck, such as Bashaw Sports or Pro-Line Shooters?

Buy yourself a silver metallic marker and start colouring them for your dad see if he notices lol. Just buy some power points and go to town.
