What extra years do for deer antler growth
Here is a time line for a couple years of the same deer.
Interesting to see how thing progress/change from year to year.

What's wrong with a nice looking 4x4? Or 3 point as you call it

I think he was 2.5 in the first pic, that's a pretty small rack for a 3.5 year old buck.

I wonder if older antlers taste better to the dog? Guess there's more so they last longer

They're scored on a mule deer too. Do you count them on mules? If you think it comes down to scoring then the beam tip is not actually a point individually measured on a scoresheet. Count em how you like. My opinion is simply that people counting that way are just trying to make a little deer sound bigger. Easterners calling it an 8 point are worse. There's not really a right or wrong on this. I've never caught a pickerel or a jack in this province either but to those people that's normal too. For me, I'll keep fishing for pike and walleye and keep hating them ugly 3 point deer.

I call it a 3 point as well. That's just the way I was taught.

Most people i know would call it a 4X4 (8point buck depending on if his stickers are long enough to make him a 9 pointer or what not). In my experience more easterners would call him a 3 bye 3. Dose it really matter....to each there own. Score sheets do have G1 spots.
