I've seen elk not far from Highway 36. Also the Red Deer River would be a good place to start.

I can never figure out why people come on here and ask for advise on where to go to hunt? That's part of it all-going out and looking and going out hunting.

Your location says Milo. Drive across hiway 1 and take a look. There must have been a reason why the draw was put in for the new draw area in the first place.

Good catch ,he is just a few hours from those zones ,but it it does not hurt to ask. Elk in those areas move a lot. Best is to find the grazing reserve and drive the area before season opens to learn the roads and be out there before sun up.
Good luck to your Dad . I hope I might be hunting at 80. good for you for taking him out .

Good for him getting out at his age.
Is the cow draw different in the 100 zones ?
Tag is good for 3 zones ?

Yes. Tag is good for all 3 zones. There were 20 antlerless and 20 antlered tags given out for the area. 10 of the antlerless applicants were priority 3's of which 8 were drawn, and 12 antlered applicants were 7's of which 1 was drawn. Higher priorities took the remaining tags.

Thought it would be a good place to ask for help guess I was wrong. Will ask on the farmer forum. Thanks to Evan83 for info. Would like to get out scouting around before opener but have lots of harvesting to do yet.

Default Elk

It is true about drawing a tag in an area that the hunter does not know. But this is a forum that we should be able to ask for advice and starting points for hunting. I know I am in the same state taking my 74 yr old dad out who has mobility issues and heart troubles.
With help from other AO members and a county map I was able to take my dad down to outside of Suffield for cow elk. We were very successful and we're able to shoot two cow elk. My dad was extremely thankful and thanks to everyone on AO for the help and advice.

one thing that has me a little disturbing is the fact that I sent him a PM with some tips and he did not even so much as give a reply thanks. Looking at his posting history, this is not the first time he has come on here wanting information on where to find elk and moose. Seems to me this guy may be a little lacking in the motivation and ethics side of things. No wonder people are reacting the way they did. For myself I am regretting trying to help the guy to be honest
