Default My hunting trip

I had 5 days off so I decided to head out to 511 for a trip.
I've hunted the area a couple of times before and managed to harvest 2 delicious does last year.

This was camp on friday.

First day there, I was cruising around checking the area out after a year had passed. Saw a black bear and watched it for about 1/2 hour until I decided to passed as it was a bit small.

Drove down one of my favorite roads and the grouse were amazing.
Got my limit of ruffies on the first day there.

Then the snow came, hunted a couple more days but they were not moving.

Had a few friends come out and they managed to get some stuck! HAHA

To be continued....

Finally on the 4th day the deer started moving...

Found a fresh bed...

Saw a buck and played cat and mouse with him until I got to this power line. Sorry about he fuzzy pic.

At around 200 yards, hiding behind a willow tree (hide haha) using a branch my weatherby bucked.

He ran 25 yards and dissappeared. I did not think he ran away as I'm sure the elevation did not drop that much but I wasnt sure, I caught a slight case of buck fever, after all I've never shot one!

So, after a few minutes and not seeing any movement, I went for a walk.

Sucess!

My first buck and did it all alone! It was wierd to celebrate alone but I did anyway. Now the hard work began, I've always hunted with someone but today I was alone. Gutted him, then dragged him uphill 200 yards.
Boy was I sweating.

Now load this guy...

Decided to head home after even though I still had a day to hunt.

I was tired, sore and cold but I had a giant grin on my face from my first buck hunting alone!

Thats great X. Congrats on what looks like a heavy 4x4 buck. The worst thing about hunting alone is the field pics without you in it. No wait... it might be dragging then loading 200 lbs of dead weight by yourself. Anyways, you got it done and thats what counts. Congrats again.

Congrats on your buck! Cool set of antlers too. I went out hunting with a friend in 511 on time and he shot a whitetail there that was a 3x3 with 12" g2's and a 21" inside spread. Biggest one I have ever seen. I like the dark colors and mass on your buck. Good Job!
