A comfortable portable 16x24 cabin. Disregard the angle of the stove pipe, we fixed it later.

What Duk is saying is him and Rack have one of those double sleeping bags and there combined body heat (snuggling) keeps them warm

Thanks, it was our first time out so we have to change a few things. We made our poles so instead of screws in the side poles in the eyelets (dont want them ripping) we are going to put dowel instead. Also for the kitchen we are putting a metal ridge pole instead of the rope on the tarp.

Here's a few pics just after we finished setting up our 09 Camp out in the Swan Lake area west of Rocky. First test for the Cabela's Alaknak 2 tent and Four Dog stove and man was I impressed! Just wish the game was moving a little more at the time. Saw more quality bucks in the last two days of the season then the week we spent in camp in mid November or the rest of the season for that matter. Oh well, hunting's as much about getting out there as it is puttin something down for me.

Question: How long did it take to set up the tent? How much $$ are you looking at roughly for the tent and stove?

Thinking about something like this for winter camping and hunting camp...

Alberta Diver, The Tent set-up the way it is shown includes a removeable floor, roof spark protection and the front vestibule. Your looking at about $1400 from Cabelas in Winnipeg for that. The Four dog stove, which is just an amazing stove will cost you about $700 to bring up from the states, but will outlast any lighter duty model out there. My opinion, I wouldn't buy any other stove. Walleyes I see you have a couple of camp chef stoves. I have a 3 burner and just love it at hunting camp. Food is cooked so much faster than with a Coleman. Do you have the BBQ unit that goes with it? BEL

BEL I have one of the bbq units for mine. It's the two burner one. Works pretty good, but there are hot spots in the middle over the CC burners. That being said I'd recommend one. The guys in camp were pretty happy with it's performance this year.

Here's some pictures of our old and new hunting camp. The old one was made of rig tarp. It was about 21' x 22' with four removable sides velcroed together. My dad and his buddy custom made it to fit onto a trailer, complete with a belly stove in the center and custom made picnic table, thats my dad in the pictures btw. The last picture is of our new, almost completed hunting camp overlooking the McLeod River. My cousin decided to put an extention on his house this year. . .believe it or not, the old house was only about as tall as one log above the front door. . .again all custom built. The last few years we've been hunting out there for obvious reasons

The stove works great. This fall when it was snowing and got down to minus 10 and was cozy warm. If we were to sleep in until eight or nine we would have to throw some more in. We usually don't go to bed until 11:00 or later.

Yes I have the BBQ unit for mine. All though I have never used it as a BBQ I use it as an oven. Why cook inside on propane when you can cook outside on the fire Eh ??? It does work awesome as an oven for potatoes in foil or even doing roast's. They have the temp gauge on them you just watch it and keep a nice even temp for cooking they work quite well.

This is a 2009 moose hunt. After 12 hours pushing through the snow we set up camp in the middle of the cutline at 01:30 in the morning.

The next day we made it to our main camping spot in 2 1/2 hours. 4 days later the snow melted, but it snowed a pile again before we left.
