Default Little road kill salvage

Well, went out hunting yesterday morning, didn't see a thing. But on the way home, came across a dead cow moose on the side of the road. Called fish and game, they were closed, called rcmp, they didn't have a clue what the regs. Called report a poacher and they had Darren from Wetaskiwin fish and game call me back in less than 10 mins. Had a few guys stop and help, shared some meat and met some new friends. Luckily, the one guy Jay, had the hoist with him lol

P.s - Big thanks to the Chevy driver that hit it and hope you're alright

Nice, its seems like such a waste, all the dead animals in the ditch. Good job.

I don't want to derail, but with a situation like this, assuming it is fresh, do you run a risk of spoiled meat from a ruptured stomach or anything like that?

Good for you for not letting it waste!!

Ya it was good on him for sure, lots of bullets rupture stomachs too so if the same precautions are used I'd think it would be okay, meat bruising could possibly an issue, mighta bin hit in the head to but there should still be lots of meat. And didn't use any priority to boot lol

Good for you. As long as it is a fresh kill there is nothing wrong with salvaging the meat from an animal struck by a vehicle.
Lucky for you that fellow with a hoist came by to help. That must have been a pretty heavy duty hoist for a truck mount.
Congrats on being able to harvest some fine eats.

Way to go! So many animals go to waste each year from vehicle collisions. Always good to keep a knife in the truck just in case.

Is that home cooked or delivery?
The pic of the plate of food makes my mouth water. Nicely done with the hunting "success"
Proof it isn't just about killing
