My 2016 WT Buck
I Love Hunting in Kaninaskis.
We located a heavily used deer area last May while looking for bears and decided we'd give the area a try on our first trip out for the year.
With a heavy wind in our face we stalked an old slash looking for fresh sign, and of course bedded deer.
After only about 20minutes of stalking we spotting this fellow bedded in a brush pile. We only saw the tips of his antlers but that was enough to know he was definetly a shooter. A few whistles later and my Sako Black Bear...with one of Mr Sako's Deadly bullets (I call them Thor's Hammer) took this fellow though the lungs.
The recovery was challenging, but the heart stew, with copious amounts of wine, made us forget that hardship quickly.
I've a Doe tag left for 406 and am already anticipating another wonderful day in K Country. Somehow I think the hunt will last a tad more than 20 minutes.

Nice bonehead. Congrats. The harder you work for your animal the better it tastes and the more you appreciate it.

Thanks guys.
Two other things made this hunt a bit special;
Firstly, my friend pictured below with the beast is a co-worker and relatively recent immigrant from the UK. He asked me if I would introduce him to hunting last year. After a year of mentoring in not just the Hunt but starting from 'this is a gun' he was in on his first successful Hunt...he was kinda excited and completely converted.
Secondly...we stalked to within 10 yards...
Thanks again for the comments, I hope you all have a successful and outstanding season.

I'm not surprised; I have seen some whoppers in 408 over the years.
