Good lake for 40 inch spring pike?

So my uncle and I caught some pike this summer on a fly rod for the first time. Kinda hooked now no pun intended. With me not knowing much outside calgary for pike fisheries where would be a decent lake to try for some big spring pike on a fly rod? We were talking about lake Newell which is nice because its relatively close to Calgary. People talk about siebert lake on here often. Thought about that for sure. Where else would be a good bet? We'd be fine with driving a max of 3 or 4 hours for the right opportunity.

Or consider the fall as well. Sometimes the weather can be better too.

Seibert is closed closed until Jun-1. Still technically spring though. I've never tried it but still might be worth a pole at the beginning of June.

Newell and Rolling Hills Reservoir are good bets. I caught a 41 in RHR a few Mays ago.

I would imagine there are better lakes to try then Seibert. Was up there this summer and did manage a couple pike in the 43" range one morning but the total number of pike would be maybe 5 I'd say over a few days of pretty steady fishing. My impression is it's another lake that's been "walleyed." No shortage of those for sure.

Seibert was a LOT better when the road going in sucked and it was still a bit of a secret.

The easier the access, the worse the fishing.

Thank you gentlemen for all your suggestions! Rolling hills is looking interesting for sure. Actually pretty close to another lake I had in mind. My uncle has a very capable 4x4 we were thinking about pontooning it but if we can get the boat in that would be great. Let's keep this discussion going. I got lots to learn.

You could give badger lake a try lots of hogs in there.

Seibert is fished out for the big girls. Lots of little Walleye the odd mid-30irtys gator still can be had. Hence the change to C&R on Pike.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the replies so far. Not too worried if the lake is catch and release as we don't keep pike. Just looking for some thrills. We're getting together on Monday morning to discuss some of the suggestions so far. We are talking about maybe a multi-day trip.

Float plane would be cool but way out of our price range. We're also wondering about the lac la biche area. It's called the Lakeland zone I think. What's up there for good lakes? Is cold lake any good for pike?

Ive extensively fished the LLB areas. Aint what it used to be. Cold to barely any pike left. Save your money for that float plane trip. Heck you can go for 15 hun a pop !!!

I drive up to 12 hours for the right opportunity in Manitoba I would suggest Northwest Saskatchewan lots of drive to camps up there
