Default 2 Old Guys and a 4 by 2 Day

Nice day for 2 old guys

started with Tim seeing one fly up in tree on my side no shot

then my eyes were peeled with a run of Ruff's grouse for Tim

4 in a row ..beautiful big breasted Ruffs

I would spot em and he would shoot them

then someone is following us so its the next road left

BINGO ..400+ yds was the shot then a little tracking

when tracking got my 2nd then a finishing shot on the first

Tims belt worked fine and a pole made it easy(both looked up and thanks Lord)

no more than 30km per hour when road hunting

Tim and 2 more ruffs from the trip before

Even saw a Pileated Woodpecker

2 Old Guys having fun

enjoy

David

Congratulations on your success.

This old guy saw 12 deer & over 7 days & I let them all go because either they were to far away, or all I saw was the head & not the rest of the body, or at the time I was getting a bead on the deer a pickup truck came roaring down the lease road & I took my eyes of the deer & it went into the trees.

I am having fun anyhow. Heck the new hunter I took out saw 10 deer himself in 2 Saturdays but couldn't get a shot away.

The stick was used to drag it out? I always grab on the back legs and drag them out. It easier that way you think?

yes if you go by the head then the hair is going with you if you choose too drag by the back leg then you are pulling against the hair

and if you get the legs both on pole then it makes it very easy pull when the stick has a person on each side and pulled at waist level

Thanks for the great idea for hauling a deer out! Hopefully I'll have a reason to try it out on the next hunt!

I tried dragging a deer out by the antlers only once- I kept getting further away from the truck !!
Seriously though, I throw a snaffle on the head and get the legs tied to it as well, and throw the rope over my shoulder- with an orange best wrapped on the deer for safety!!

I miss shooting chickens.

I used to do it all the time. Seems west of red deer the numbers are low for the last many years.
