Default Vehicle GPS Tracking Advice

I am in the market to purchase a vehicle tracking device that I can either track with my iphone that has no monthly fee or a low monthly fee and is relatively easy to use. There are so many different devices on the market and I am not sure where to begin. I am looking for a unit that has real time tracking or every 5 minutes with speed indication, start and stop and is either plug and play or needs to be wired in. I am hoping that a few AO members could give me their feed back on the units they have to get me pointed in the right direction. Thanks

I know a couple of guys that have an old iPhone in their cars. They use the "find a friend" app and wire the phone into the car so it's always on.
They just add it to an existing plan.
Works in real time and it will send them alerts whenever the car moves from a set point.

I used SPOT Trace when I had my boat. It notified me at work when it moved and I was able to contact the police. They where able to nail the guys who "borrowed it". within blocks.

We have GPS tracking in all our company trucks, there is no visible sign that its even there. It tells you speed, stopped, running, speeding etc. Don't know how much it costs. Johnson Wireless, Edmonton.

Boss just looks for a truck # on the computer and he got ya. Dang
