Default Cop Impersonator near Okotoks

Strange one here, fake cop pulled a woman over and issued her a fake ticket . Is the guy an overly militant crusader of justice, or something more sinister? Looking for victims and she didn't strike his fancy, so he had a cover with the pretend summons? Where was Okotokian at the time? Oh wait, suspect is described as slim and young, carry on....

Is it time for citizens to now ask the cops for their drivers license and registration ???? Maybe

This is part of the reason you have the right to ask police for ID.

If necessary, yes. If a fully marked cruiser pulls me over, and it's plainly a police officer - then no. Plain clothes, definitely but I don't recall seeing plainclothes in Alberta. Back in Ontario yes.

There were a couple of guys doing this in Okotoks 30 years ago, they murdered at least one woman as I recall.

I've heard of it used as a modus operandi for committing rapes, though certainly robbery is feasible as well. The fake ticket aspect is a strange twist, one wonders what fantasies buddy indulges himself in, if he's not sporting dangerous intent, he's at the very least in need of some therapy.

I like watching crime documentaries and a few times there have been stories of serial killers who will put one of those fake lights on their car and drive country highways at night to pull people over. Too dark to see if it is a legit cop car but the lights are flashing and a "cop" is in uniform when they get to the civilian. Also have watched stories about the fake cops talking to sex workers then killing them. It's scary that some individuals will do that sort of thing.

It's possible that a fake cop handing out tickets is someone rejected from the force. Though they still feel they belong there so they act out what they believe they are entitled to. Likely no gun on them but you can pick up everything else at army supply shops and live out your fantasy.

I live in Okotoks, although my name says High River. This may be tied to something else going on here. Theres a guy stalking women early in the morning walking their dogs at the north side of town. He just stops his truck and stares at them and smiles, then drives away when they see him. RCMP are aware of this guy as well.

Scary part is now he has her home address and any other personal info he could get from her license/insurance pApers she would have handed over to him at the stop.

The amount of damn cops out on the roads around this town, I'd be shocked to see some one do this. Almost ever time I'm out driving around here, cop sitting and hiding or chasing someone down.

I am the only person I know who asks for a card from a police officer.
I like to try and remember names so if I ever get pulled over again (yes it happens) then I can name drop and see if they know each other.

This is one way that you can take control of the conversation and throw them off their own game.
30 seconds guys...

Given the fact that many teenagers who are not of drinking age make fake ID's to get into bars, what's stopping someone who is impersonating a police officer from making a fake police ID? Even asking for ID will not protect you if they are in an unmarked cruiser car/truck.

Hey! Not me.

Two theories

We have plenty of pretend, wanna be cops in Okotoks. We call them bylaw enforcement officers

Or he could just be a male stripper doing the old sexy cop routine on his way to a stagette who decided to have a little fun. The woman was sort of cute.
