Was just in Lacomb today and read an old newspaper from town dated July 25th. The cops there decided to have a check stop and pulled over 500 cars. In one day they caught 2 impaired drivers. Had 4 roadside suspensions. Caught 2 people on warrants. 2 people that had lost their licenses and also caught a bunch of people with no insurance and about 25 other violations. Now that is what the cops need to be doing all over the place!!!! Not sitting in a "construction zone" that really isn't one. They could be doing so many good things out there. Glad to see there are still the odd checkstop. If I was a chief of a dept I would be making a mandatory checkstop once a week if possible looking at the stats from Lacombe

Checkstops get things done!!!! From impaireds, finding drugs, illegal wepeans, to everything.....come around a corner and find a checkstop, it's pretty tough to turn around or hide things on the fly without drawing attention..... Totally agree.

Yes check stops get results, but they don't make money like a speed trap does, and money is what pays the bills.

Yes. Tickets pay bills. Real charges do nothing to generate money. Quite the opposite in fact. Sad. Sure real charges may save a few lives down the road, but parking tickets is what pays Salaries......
