What is fastest way to Ft Mac from Edmonton?
Hi all.
I'm driving from Edmonton south side to Ft Mac this Thursday. My oldest is competing in the Western Canada Summer Games this weekend so we're going to the opening ceremonies & his competition.
What is the fastest way? Hwy 63 through Wandering River or Hwy 55 Lac La Biche?
Google maps is completely useless. I've always flown to Ft Mac, I've never driven before.
Thanks in advance!

Highway 63 is a fair bit shorter than highway 881.

Head up 63 - they have three four lane sections open now with a 110kph speed limit

From the south side I'd take Anthony Henday, to Hwy 14 and head East(Usually take 16 but construction is ridiculous right now, Take Hwy 21 North which turns into 15 East, then turn North on 831 at Lamont. Just go straight North from there, brings you out by Boyle where you meet up with 63.

X2! The biggest thing I see ( I drive it almost every weekend and have lived here for 43 years) is that people want to pass on a solid and will not back down, or try and beat you to the end of a passing lane and try to get passed you before you have time to pull in.
I let them get int on a hill and I generally get into the lket lane off the passing lane early.

Be aware that the speed limit signs in the construction zones are so messed up, that it is virtually impossible to know the correct speed limit all the way down 63.

Goodluck to your son! Drive safe, allow as much extra time that you can, and have fun!
