Default Primers

Have these changed over the years? How old would these be? Can I expect identical performance compared to the new ones?

Ive used some pretty old primers. Never changed velocity.
They will be just fine
Primers when properly stored will last a long time

Same stuff, different box. I have some way older than those and they work just fine.

Default Determining the Age of Primers

If you send the lot number to the manufacturer they will provide the date of manufacture.

I inherited a ton of old CIL primers and have been using them with no issues. I suspect that these are at least 30 years old, perhaps closer to 40.

The primers in the Red Mag box are from around 1995-2005. I am just finishing off some primers I bought from an estate sale that had their purchase dates recorded on them. 1960-1971. They are 60 years old and still work just fine.
