Default Canadian Music ?

I don't have a lot of likes for Canadian music, but there were some classics IMHO.

Got a favorite?

Actually I just posted this for those who thought they would never hear this again in their lifetime. Most Canadian music makes me shudder.

I like me a little Corb Lund. I got to have a couple drinks with him after his Yukon show a few weeks back. He's a real down to earth type of guy - great to share a couple beers with.

I am also a big fan of Big Wreck. Frontman Ian Thornley is quite possibly this country's best guitar player. I was fortunate enough to see them at the bar in GP earlier this year- lovely in such a small, intimate venue.

It's too bad Corb turned into a shill for Budweiser though. He's a really nice guy but Bud is not Albertas beer.

Corb Lund, Ian Tyson, Gary Fjellgaard, Brian Adams, Tragically Hip, Rush, George Fox, Stan Rogers, Hank Snow, and The Northern Pikes, who sang one of my favourites "She Ain't Pretty She Just Looks That Way". There are some good Canadian acts but they get buried by all of the crap that the CRTC makes the radio stations play.

Thornleys voice is also top notch. Great band.

Also like Sam Roberts, The Trews, some Sloan, Billy Talent, nickleback in very small doses.

Old schoolers Hip, 54-40, some Matthew Good...

"Camaro rock" stuff like Loverboy, Trooper, Red Rider, Streetheart but the radio just plays this stuff to death.

Best for me is Rush. Not everyone gets them but if you do there is no one else like them.

That ^
On a 'per-capita' basis, Canada has produced more good popular music than most other countries in the world!

I have lots of Canadian favourites, but Gordon Lightfoot is on the top of my list. One of my favorites by Gordon
is this little-known song called 'Christian Island' ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5hrIefEPko

I didn't see Nickelback mentioned.

Joni Mitchell is .................well special. I dated her cousin on the coast for a while.
