Default Foot pounds energy

How do you figure this all out for the use of Mechanicals? What is an acceptable level to use them?

65 is the number I also often hear. I've seen them smaller sized wasp jack hammer mechanicals (1,1/4 inch cutting diameter) perform flawlessly on deer with less energy.

From what I gather I should be good?
My arrows are 28.5" long
I was shooting my axis which are 417 Grains at 289 FPS
I now have VAP arrows but have not Chronoed them but they are 386 grains. I suspect they fly faster.

I would would say your good

Your previous set up had 77 ft lbs your new set up is likely just slightly less

To rough guess you current speed for every 3 grains lost you gain 1 fps. So you probably gained about 10fps.
