Default Rain/snow?

I know as an old farmer, I worry a lot about this sort of thing, but this is dryer than I've ever seen it. The snow is gone and so is what ever moisture that it brought.

I hope that for all our sakes that it starts to rain soon.

The drought has never ended, apparently we have about 11% of our "normal " snowfall so far. Not looking good.

It could get real ugly in the south.

I was out by Trochu today, thinking there's a fire hazard as is.

Don't know of anyone that has lost a crop in February, still have a ways to go to replenish the ground moisture, and lets hope it happens. If not then things will not go well for farmers, ranchers, wildlife, Albertans, ect.

county of warner just put on a fire ban.......don't know if it was to intimidate protesters who have been burning wood in barrels to keep warm or not.

what i do know is that it's bone dry and the wind has been howling since i can't remember when....it gets depressing.....wind blowing/police at every corner/protesters blocking traffic, and on, and on....

hope it rains soon, or we have the mother of all snows, 'cause this country will all blow to saskatchewan if it doesn't

We need about 4’ of snow or a solid month of rain to fill all the dugouts. Right now the dugouts are empty!

My trapline by Edson must be in a different province. Had worst year in last 10 years for to much snow around 4 feet and still 3 or more feet left. Banks on side of road are 7 feet high.

North of the Virginia Hills rd and across to Calling lake had butt deep snow as of last weekend. This weekend it had settled a bit due to high temps in the Calling Lake area. Sledded these areas so its good to see that part of the province will get some good spring melt for the water table, lakes etc.

That being said, you can see the farm land snow pack has dropped significantly in a week. High winds and above zero temps sure take it down fast. I too hope for a wet rainy spring to help replenish what we lost last summer.

For what it’s worth:

Looks like warm/rainy spring? Dry March though. There’s some contradictions in it but false hope is better than none.

We have had more snow than I can recall in last 10 years in Lac la Biche, I shovelled off my roof this year. Then last week we had crazy winds and temperatures, it hit 9 above in the middle of the night! Also got some rain too, really knocked down the amount of snow we did have. back to-20 this week. Weather is weird.

Again this year, the only income to be made here will be through insurance.

Yeah we need some moisture. I wish it poured rain for a week! be nice to get a regular basis of it. Camping and fishing will be poor again. Fire bans and restrictions, poor air quality, low flows. Not good.

Not looking good unless we have some serious spring rains, which from the weather I've been seeing so far, doesn't look promising, could easily be bone dry before seeding happens. Waterfowl will definitely take another huge hit without water this year.
